Center for Simulation of Dynamic Response of Materials

ASC Alliance/Laboratory V and V Workshop

July 13-14, 2004 • La Jolla, California

Verification and Validation (V&V) of codes has become a central theme of the ASCI program at both the DP laboratories as well as the ASCI Alliance Centers. Both the labs and the centers are engaged in the simulation of applications exhibiting a rich array of multiscale phenomena, and as the simulation codes being developed via the ASCI program have become more capable, increasing attention is now being paid to the predictive capability of the codes.

Our plan in this informal workshop is to bring together modelers, experimenters, and simulation experts from the DP laboratories ( Los Alamos , Livermore and Sandia) and the ASCI Alliance centers ( Chicago , Caltech , Illinois , Stanford, and Utah ) to present results from their V&V programs.

A central theme of the workshop is the identification of common issues and challenges facing the labs and the centers in verifying and validating codes. The ultimate objective is to identify a selected set of issues that could serve as possible topics for future collaborations between the laboratories and the centers in the area of V&V. The workshop will be held at the Radisson Hotel in La Jolla, CA.
